The Museum has been monitoring the recommended guidelines in connection with COVID-19. In light of the pandemic, this year’s summit will be delivered virtually. The ability to use virtual technology will enable us to make the program more widely accessible. While the main program will be limited to high-school students, we are making some of the sessions available to a general audience.

Global Quaranteen Medical Summit

COVID 19: A Global Pandemic in Real-Time

July 13 - 17 2020

Now in its 11th year, the Global Teen Medical Summit is an incredible opportunity for high-school students with an interest in health and medicine to explore the role of innovation and technology in solving global health challenges。 Over the years, the program has grown to include project-based learning。 Not only do participants learn about cutting-edge technology that is revolutionizing medicine, but they also have the opportunity to develop prototypes of their own。

Traditionally, the program is held at The Health Museum in Houston, Texas, and consists of presentations, behind-the-scenes-tours of the Texas Medical Center, social activities, access to the Museum and its exhibits, and sessions dedicated to the project-based components.

During the Global Teen Medical Summit students will:

  • Assess and develop viable solutions to real-world medical problems
  • Participate in career readiness skill building and gain exposure to career paths
  • Develop entrepreneurial skills including how to ideate, prototype, and communicate ideas
  • Gain an increased understanding of project design and the innovation process
  • Improve collaboration skills and cultural competency through interdisciplinary, team-based problem solving

2020 Program Theme

We are experiencing the quintessential global health challenge in real-time. While we are unable to host the Summit in its original format, we've decided to move forward virtually to bring researchers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs together to talk about the ways in which they're working behind the scenes and on the front lines to address the challenge at hand.

Teens

This year’s virtual format will consist of daily speaker sessions, student challenges, and opportunities to socialize with other students in the program. Mandatory sessions will take place Monday – Friday between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Optional sessions will be offered throughout the week in the afternoons and evenings for those students who wish to participate.

This year’s full program is limited to 100 students. The registration fee is $35. To reserve a space in this year’s program, register .
